Here in Rome, the semi-annual sales officially kick off tomorrow and will last until February 15. Occurring every January and July, though the exact dates may differ from region to region, the saldi are the best times to shop in Italy, with stores all over the country offering discounts. Last year, I got a pair of gold snake earrings for 50% off at a little independent jewelry shop called Gamani Gioielli in Via Sistina. This year, I’m hoping to get a new blazer at Marella and perhaps some new shoes at Geox.
During the winter saldi, the New Roman Times will be discounted too—and the sale is starting a day early here. Upgrade anytime between now and February 15 and you’ll get 30% off the price of a paid subscription. No special code or link necessary.
That means that all yearly subscriptions cost $49 instead of $70. Or you can lock in a monthly subscription price of $4.90 instead of $7. So if you’ve been thinking about upgrading, now is the time to do so.
Why upgrade?
By upgrading to a paid subscription, you’ll unlock current and future paywalled issues that contain the insider intel I’ve worked so hard to gather over years of living in and visiting Italy. Highlights include my popular curated lists such as these:
24 Places in Italy to Inspire Your 2024 Travels (coming next week!)
You’ll also get access to my 72 Hours series spotlighting in demand destinations such as:
72 Hours in Rome (coming soon!)
72 Hours in Venice (coming soon!)
Paid subscribers also get perks like exclusive discounts with my partners, including 10% off Scooteroma’s Vespa tours. Top tier subscribers who opt for a "Super Supporter” subscription get a free 40-minute consultation with me to help them plan a trip to Italy.
Perhaps most importantly, paid subscriptions help me keep this newsletter going and keep the majority of the issues available to everyone for free. The New Roman Times does not have any ads or sponsored content. I only write about places that I genuinely love and people who are worth getting to know.
Don’t take my word for it though—this is what readers who upgraded have to say:
“Laura’s writing captures the sights and vibe of a locale, transporting you to a distant land. I value her insights and recommendations and I’m ready to book a trip once I’ve read her latest article!”
“How I wish I had the talent to write as well as you do. Without a doubt your article featuring Antonio Sersale of the renowned Le Sirenuse gave me not only enjoyment but insight into the way of life of a family who runs one of the most wonderful hotels, in one of the most exquisite areas of Italy. Articles such as this transport ordinary people to extraordinary places... no flight needed.”
“I subscribed because I want to have real and accurate information about Rome (my favorite city in the world) and Italy as I hope to retire there someday! I was also a journalism student many years ago and think it’s important to support writers. Mille grazie!”
I hope you will join these and other satisfied subscribers in upgrading to support my work.
