In Rome, chicken is rarely seen on restaurant menus. There is, however, one beloved Roman recipe for chicken and that is pollo con i peperoni (i.e. chicken with peppers).
Italians do seem to have a weird relationship with chicken. One of those things that they never seem to want to acknowledge eating, even though they do. We've got Thanksgiving coming up here-- you can imagine that a turkey really freaks them out.
Very similar to my Roman mumās version but for some reason Iāve rarely made it, even though I loved it as a child. Pollo alla cacciatora is my go to in the cooler months and now that sumner is coming Iām going to make this dish part of my summer repertoire. Thank you for reminding me about how delicious this dish is.

I adore this dish (and anything with peppers), and they do it very well at Da Renato in Rome.
