Wow, this article is so coincidentally timely. I'm going to Italy for the first time next month and will be making 3 train journeys while there. Thanks for reassuring me that booking in advance was the way to go!

hi , this article is so informative ! thank you so much !

I am going to Italy in September , I am wondering if the connecting bus can wait for a few minutes if my train is delayed, because the ticket is sold as one on Trenitalia ; the trip is from Rome to Buonconvento , one change at Grosseto , FrecciaBlanca 8616 from Rome terminal to Grosseto , then change to bus FI392 to Buonconvento ; in-between is 8 minutes , could you please give me some advices ? thank you !

Watch out for the Leonardo express train! I got a ticket there the other weekend. They are now making you do “online check in” for the ticket and I didn’t do it so I got a 50 euro ticket. I filed a complaint bc it seems like a total tourist trap.

That’s the new policy for all regional trains now. You have to check in online before the train leaves the station.

So annoying! Especially as I was running from my Napoli train which is Freccia to the Leonardo, with all my bags, I was so frazzled!
