Looks amazing. I was hoping to get there while in Rome last month, but got sidetracked (as one does in Rome) between the Trajan's Market and Palazzo Massimo-- neither which I'd seen. As a veteran of high school theatre productions of Julius Caesar, I really can't miss this new site. Thanks for the info!
Thank you! I have wondered at the Republican temples (and the cats) over the years (decades). They presented an eye of calm admidst the chaos of Roman traffic. I am putting them on my bucket list to return!
Thank you, Laura, for sharing this informative story. While during an intensive year of Italian studies at the Dante Alighieri School, I waited for my bus everyday in the Largo Argentina. That was in the early sixties. It never seemed to change over the years on all my return visits to Rome. Your article makes me want to spend an hour there, and see it in a new light.
It's still mostly the same, but at least now you can descend down into the site, walk along the pathways, and see the archeological fragments in the exhibition space. Let me know if you end up going!

Trajan’s Market and Palazzo Massimo are also great, but next time you’ll have to make a point to visit Largo Argentina!

The cats are still there!
