Wow-- this is crazy. That private apartment is so far over the top you might as well be floating. Definitely putting this on the must-see list. Wonderful post.
This is one of my favorite places in Rome! I recommend reading Mistress of the Vatican by Eleanor Herman. This is a fascinating book about Olympia Maidalchini who married into the Pamphilij family.
I have yet to visit Rome, but when I get there I'm making a beeline for this place. Thanks also for the round-up of palazzo content at the end. Right up my alley, and I'm sure other readers' too!
The entrance to the Museum area of the huge palazzo (more than 300 rooms, I believe ) used to be in Piazza Collegio Romano,( "an inconspicuous little door -no 1a)" (Companion guide to Rome, 1965 p 86)...
- then in 2003 the revised text by John Fort (page 86) puts it at the larger entrance doorway where the portiere hangs out.
- I checked in the 1993 "Rome Eyewitness guide" (that I helped write) and the 1965 address is the same inconscpicuous little door!!. Just shows how long it has been since I went to visit the Palazzo.... first time was to interview the Princess and the children (Jonathan and his sister) were running up and down the staircase
Oh my goodness, this is fascinating! I didn’t realize anyone other than the Doria Pamphilj family lives there. Now I have a new life goal: get invited to a party at Isabella Ducrot’s apartment in the palazzo 😉

Palazzo Colonna is another favorite, but I believe it’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays.
Thanks for the update…I have only entered by the back door in Paz Collegio Romano
What back door?

I was just reading about this Palazzo because artist Isabella Ducrot lives there! Coming to Roma soon I will book a tour 🥰

I hired an art historian through viator for a private tour for 3 of us. It was so interesting and a highlight of my 2018 trip.
I’ve never done a tour there, just wandered around on my own. I’m sure a tour would be fascinating!
