I love this town. Even by elevated Italian standards, it takes an amazing photo. And that little shop in the square that sells soaps makes an amazing goat milk skin lotion! So glad you highlighted this place (before it melts away)!

Laura, so glad other journalists are writing about Tuscia and all its unknown qualities> the sunsets, laid back lifestyle, fabulous olive oil and inexpensive properties (compared to Toscana and Rome!)

Next time you are in the area, hope we can meet

I am really hoping to visit Civita di Bagnoregio in 2025. It's been on my radar for a couple years. Thank you for writing this piece about it! I would love to learn about more under-the-radar towns.

I came back to my original comment to say that I visited Civita di Bagnoregio a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely wonderful. Wowwww....such a stunning town perched up on the bluff! It was all that I had hoped it would be - such a charming and beautiful hilltop town. We stayed for about three hours wandering around, trying to find all the little nooks and crannies. :) Before leaving, we ate lunch and stopped by a sweet little spot for some delicious gelato before making our way back across the bridge to the car. It wasn't overly crowded which was a nice surprise. I appreciate that you have to work to get there as I think that helps with the crowd control. I would love to come back and spend a night or two. I imagine how magical and quiet it must be at night.
